Your first step in the process is to schedule a meeting with our clergy, who will assess your legal eligibility for marriage. To arrange this meeting, please contact to enquiries@stmarksdunham.co.uk or approach the vicar after our Sunday service. During this meeting, be sure to bring along identification with a photograph and proof of your current address. Additionally, we will establish a ‘qualifying connection’ to the parish.

Legally to be married in a parish church you need to be connected to it in some way. If you come to our church already, and have done so for some time, then this qualifies. It also qualifies if your parents attend the church, but you don’t, or that you live in the parish. In the absence of these we can discuss it with you.

We can move forward to set a date for your special day! This will allow us to coordinate the necessary dates for your marriage banns to be publicly announced. You’ll also have the opportunity to schedule a rehearsal, which will be held 48 hours before your wedding.

As your wedding day draws nearer, we’ll arrange an informal meeting with you to discuss marriage matters, review the vows, select Bible readings, and provide an opportunity for you both to connect and share advice. Our talented organist will also be on hand to assist you in choosing the perfect music for your special occasion.

If you have had a civil ceremony and want your your marriage to be blessed in church we will be delighted to arrange this.
